Regarding TV: You can say THAT again. Regarding books: You gotta know the author(s).

I think it is very sad that you and more than likely many others think of us this way.

Every generation has its' turkeys. By the same token, many observers of society believe there is a magatrend toward feeling
entitled to things and stature not earned. During the debates on the illegal alien issue last year, you heard the expression "they do the jobs American won't do." Yes, there have always been waves of immigrants to take on particular "nation-building" projects." But I don't recall in history whole lines of work that American's won't do, as if most of it is beneath us. This is what I mean.

There are many 20-30 somethings that are good people, have good jobs, are responsible and are raising good children....in this VERY scary world.
I know you don't know me....probably will some day...but I really felt the need to defend what you say. I can understand sarcasim...I can be VERY sarcastic in jest. I apologize for jumping on you as I did...I honestly thought you were being serious and needed to defend.

Thanks.

I know there are many irresponsible people of all ages...complacent and apathetic in their lives. I find this even sadder....
So perhaps you are right....too many younger people in my generation will not know what to do when the time comes to retire!

Ahaaa!!! That's the point of this thread. And what many experts are saying...the face of retirement is likely to change in 20-30 years...becoming perpetual part time work after age 65, for example. Will there still be a place for places like The Villages that are located away from employment centers - with only $7 or $8 an hour jobs? Will telecommuting (internet, video-conferencing, etc.) mature to the point where being located next to employment centers to continue our careers in "semi"-retirement won't be necessary?

I should just be grateful and thankful everyday that even in my 30's I can live here....obviously I do not have too many friends my own age so that really should tell me something...

How did you manage THAT? You're making me feel like a baggy-pants sloth at age 62!!!

I really shouldn't get so defensive...I am just so darn dramatic!!

And like I never get wound up on this forum.
