I really think there is confusion somewhere. I had a TKR performed by Dr. Nguyen and in the beginning ice was absolutely recommended to reduce swelling. I remember a lady in the waiting room for her post op visit who couldn't move her leg, and I asked her if she iced it daily and she said no. From my experience, ice is very necessary. You should probably check back with Dr. Nguyens office.
