Technology has changed a lot in 14 years. Take that into account.

Where I live now, I just replaced our forced hot air furnace with a new Trane unit. We cannot compare decisions, except that our was 23 yrs old and the technological advances made it a no-brainer for me. The new unit is much more efficient and “right-sized” for our home. The original unit was installed as a “one-size-fits-all”. The builder used the same size unit for all homes they were building. Our furnace ended up too large for our home (inefficient).

Look at your options. As others have rightly stated, get many quotes, make an informed decision. When in doubt, you may want to ask others in the community for their opinions (as you have done here). Neighbors make good neighbors :-).
