Gracie, you are right. They need to be planted close together for pollenation and also as close in verticle & horizontal rows as well. Done all that, and the only thing I pollenate are
the worms..... I had beautifully shaped ears and very healthy stalks, but as soon as I peel down the leaves, nothing but worms, no kernals. That's it, I give up. Tore up the corn fields and planted pumpkins in their place. They were very easy and fruitful and fun to grow.
