I had to nothing but read this twice -- the part about "refuse the friendship of all who are not like you". It bothered me. At first it sounded offensive and I thought "this doesn't sound like Nucky to me" until I re-read it.
I assume it means refuse the friendship of those who are not faithful ... don't keep promises ... are afraid of admitting to making mistakes and don't amend their ways. Not as in those who may be culturally, politically, racially or differing in opinions.
I love TOTV but, just like e-mail and text messages, there is always so much that can be misinterpreted with this one-dimensional communication. I prefer talking -- seeing your facial expressions -- hearing your tone -- much easier not to misunderstand. But, sigh, at the moment, it's the best we have.
That's why frequently one of us has had to say to another of us ..."That was a joke" ... since he takes things literally.
Too much room for error. But right now, more importantly I need to get ready for a date with my oncologist so in perspective, none of this is important, is it?
