Architectural shingles are the norm now...and have been for at least 10 years.
The older 3 tab shingles are usually more expensive now and not as good....they are now higher priced because typically they are now only used for repair work.

There are different grades of Architectural shingles, different looks, colors, weights, etc. Most however are still 3 bundles per square.

The Villages have been using Certanteed Landmark shingles on all of their new homes for years now. For a little bit more you can upgrade to the "Landmark Pros", which in my opinion look a bit nicer and are a bit heavier.
