That is NOTHING but a wonderful song which successfully crossed the religious genre to the secular due to its popularity. There are lots of books on the topic of which you speak, many of which are wonderful personal stories of how great tragedy led to much good. In fact, there is a movie coming out shortly if it's not already in theatres called,
Palau which might interest you. A movie that really struck a chord with my son when he was probably middle school age was called,
End of the Spear. I took him to see it when it was in the theaters and he said afterwards "Did that really happen"? It's a good one. Not sure if you can find it anywhere, but if not, when I get down there I have a DVD of it that you can borrow if you'd like.
