The correct way is to remove it, not cover it up. DIY is the affordable option. You can either get a pry tool under each tile and pop them up. This usually works. You may have to use an electric demolition hammer. It is a cross between a drill and a handheld jack hammer. A Chinese version is fine for what you need. Amazon sells them for 129.00. for some reason the harbor freight version is well over 200.00 now.

I have removed well over 1500 sq ft. It is an unpleasant task. It is loud and dusty. I used the demolition hammer.
