Our lanai is enclosed with double-pane glass and not air-conditioned and it is comfortable; perhaps 1-2 degrees warmer than the rest of the house and it is over 400 sq.ft. We leave the sliders open 24x7. The key might be the exposure. We have a northeast exposure. If you have a western exposure you may very well need a mini-split system.

The approximate size of our lanai is 30 x 10. We were told by the salesman that we would not need additional AC/Heat in the lanai when we use their windows. Does anyone have experience with enclosing the lanai and not adding additional AC?
