As I understand the method of property assessment for tax purposes, the negative about loading up your house with options such as window treatments and washer/drier is that it adds to the sales price of the house and hence the assessed value. Therefore you will be paying taxes on these items for as long as you own your house. If this understanding is incorrect, I'm sure someone with more direct knowledge of this will correct me.

As far as having someone come in before you close on your house to measure and install blinds, according to our sales agent this would not be allowed since until you close, TV owns your home and there are legal and insurance reasons to not allow non_TV contractors to have access to the house. They would allow places like Southern Lifestyles to access the house to deliver furniture because they are owned by TV. Again, I am willing to stand corrected if I got some bum information from our agent.
