I would suggest you start with the idea that staying 'injury free'...is almost impossible.

Even small injuries, seem to affect activities in one way or another...and can be a bummer.

As mentioned above, the best way to minimize the chances of a severe injury is to stretch, warmup and limit total time spent on the sports that have the most impact on joints...which is our weak points as we get older.
