Exclamation Water boil alert & Filters

Since Sunday afternoon we have received numerous calls about the lack of water followed up by the boil water alert issued by the water dept.

From a google search

" Precautionary Boil Water Notices may be issued because of water system loss of power, loss of water pressure, a water main (pipe) break or other unforeseen emergency. Water pressure keeps pollutants from entering the underground pipes that bring drinking water to your house or business. When the pressure is lost, it is possible that contaminants could seep into the pipes.

The notice does not mean that the water is contaminated — it means it is possible for contaminants to enter the pipes and affect drinking water. Until required bacteriological testing is completed, we recommend — as a precaution — boiling tap water before consuming it to kill any potential contaminants, and or using bottled water."

Since no one will say why, to speculate would be irresponsible, an immediate boil order is the most sensible action to take.

As great as our filters are Carbon filters, sediment filters, and even Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems are not capable for removing bacteria.
If in fact that's the reason which is more than likely.

After the alert is over we recommend a 20-30 min whole house flush through your faucets etc.
Both hot & cold.

If your Nova filters are near the end of their life (26,000 gallons) they should be changed, please call 352.661.6555 to schedule.
If they are relatively new(er) you should be fine,

Bob
