[QUOTE=Villages Kahuna;167353]Basically, what the Obama tax plan does is to reverse the tilt of tax benefits for the wealthiest Americans which occurred under the tax reductions enacted during the first six years of the Bush administration. Under Obama's plan those that benefitted by the more generous reductions won't be paying any more than they were before the Bush tax reductions were enacted.

People argue that the Obama plan is "income redistribution". I suppose maybe it is...back to the way it was before the current president, along with his party who controlled Congress for the first six years of his administration, changed the tax rates to a scale more beneficial to the wealthiest Americans.

I suppose one might even observe that it was the group that benefited the most that were more generous with their campaign contributions, if that might have had anything to do with the revised tax rates.

Interesting use of words. "tilt" The tax system already has the top 10% of earners paying 50% of the taxes. Seems to me that if there is a "tilt" it is already against the top 10%. "benefited" Wow, it must be a privilege to be benefited by paying the highest tax rate in the country.

"Income redistribution" So, first the top 10% were paying more than anyone else in the country, then that terrible Republican Congress cut their taxes back to a max 35%. How awful for everyone else that they don't pay 35% also. Let's see, first we were REALLY taxing them at the highest rate, then we were more "beneficial" to those rich people by only really (lower case denotes less) taxing them at 35%. We're "redistributing" the wealthy peoples money less than we use to, how awful.

I would hope that the people who have earned HIGH INCOME gave more to their respective campaigns. They have more to contribute after all. I'd hate to see people that BENEFIT from wealth redistribution have to part with their money for their candidate. What have they got to gain being on the receiving end, after all.
