I've enjoyed Abeo and found the new ones to not be as good, also. The ones I had previously were discontinued when I got them, on clearance. So sad, they were almost perfect.

You might try New Balance - the Postal Worker model. Very firm, well-cushioned but not "stretchy" since they're leather uppers. They have the solid fixed rollbar like the Abeos have at the back of the instep to improve spine impact and standing pitch. They also have a wider toe box, which is SO important for people who haven't caused their feet to become permanently deformed by wearing shoes that get narrow or even come to a point at the toes (typical closed-toe high heels) all their lives. You can probably try them on at an actual New Balance store, I don't think multi-brand stores or department stores carry them.
