The OP has not come back and many are suggesting reporting the contractor for doing something wrong. But nowhere does the OP say he was not aware that he would be responsible for any needed irrigation line repair. We've had posters say that it only cost $200 to get it done, and others that T&D wanted $4000 to cover the lawn and irrigation part of the job. So it is entirely possible that the OP all along knew that he had to bear this cost. You either pay the pool contractor who subcontracts the work and takes a cut or you pay it directly to the irrigation man which ultimately would likely be less expensive. I don't see any evidence that the pool company did anything wrong unless the OP comes back and says the company promised to either not damage the irrigation lines or that the expected damage would be paid by the company not the homeowner.
