I had an Iraqi friend at the U of Denver Graduate School of Librarianship and Information Management in 1983-1984. He was from the U of Mosul Library. One of his main targets of jokes were the Kurds. He went back to Iraq and we corresponded for a few years. It stopped though as his attitudes towards the West got uglier and uglier.

Not sure what happened to him. He seemed to be alive in 2012 or so but I could not find much about him after ISIS took Mosul and pretty much destroyed the U of Mosul Library.

The wars in Iraq have a lot of lies attached to them. Many of them seemed very deliberate.
