Th Eweissenbach's opened up a whole new genre of really good movies which got me to thinking about the Fred Astaire movies, yes I know they were just dancing and music, but if you watch one you will see that the dancers were incredible athletes running up and down banks of stairs while tap dancing and sliding down the banister!!! Great music and timing. Also remember the movies made by Gene Kelley ..... American in Paris, Singing in the Rain, et al. Incredible direction and camera work.
I borrowed this from a write up of the old musicals:
We are lucky that both Gene Kelly's and Fred Astaire's dancing was captured on film during the "Golden Age" of Hollywood musicals. It gives all of us a chance to see the creativity, genius, and just plain hard work that went into their performances. . Plus they had the best composers and lyricists of the 20th Century creating the songs -- in many cases just for Fred and Gene.
I just thought of another one - The King and I. Deborah Kerr and Yul Brynner. Another great master piece from the golden age.
Mr. P.Bear you started a great thread here, I have really enjoyed it, thank you!
So many movies, so little time
