Earlier this year, my wife and I did an 11-day cruise to the Southern Caribbean (Grand Cayman, Panama, Ecuador, Belize and 2 stops in Mexico) primarily to do bird-watching with an independent tour company (Carefree Birding out of Sanibel Island, FL) that uses Celebrity. We have not done a lot of cruising before (just an Alaskan cruise and a northern Caribbean cruise, both on Holland America Lines) so we may not be the best judges, but we liked the room, the food, the entertainment and the ship well enough to book another cruise with them to the Galapagos next year. If you were cruising with young kids, you might prefer another line such as Disney. If you're young and single and looking to party, there may be other, wilder cruise lines. If you're on a tight budget, there may be cheaper cruise lines out there. If you want absolutely top-notch, world-class dining and service, there may be even nicer cruise lines out there (thought at a substantial uptick in price, I'm sure). We're 65, looking for entertainment but not non-stop partying, good food but not gourmet stuff and desiring decent service on clean, newer ships. Using those criteria, we would do Celebrity again.
