Here in UK all the moggies we have had, have roamed free, and lived to a ripe old age. (Except the one who played with cars!)
Only serious predators here are the foxes, but they usually give the cats a wide birth. Cats fight back, as many a one eyed fox will agree!
Badgers can be a problem if confronted, but our cats, being rural cats, are smart, smell them a mile off, and give them a wide birth.
