This may help. If you're using a windows based system, go to internet options in the control panel, click on the Connections tab, and then click LAN settings. Make sure nothing is checked in there. Automatically detect settings sounds like it should be checked but it is very rare that it need be and will sometimes give you an unstable connection. Sometimes some software will change that setting without you being aware of the change. If your control panel is set to category view, click on network and internet and then choose internet options.
