Many Yamaha golf carts have an hour meter - total engine runtime - useful information for scheduling maintenance. While it is possible that the maximum engine RPMs are stored somewhere, there isn't a speedometer unless an aftermarket one, such as a Striker, is installed. The Striker does record maximum speed, along with other statistics, until you reset it. I wouldn't necessarily believe a golf cart salesperson. One told me the Yamaha golf carts have 2 cylinder engines. Regarding using a GPS app on a phone, this is just what we need; people driving around with their attention focused on their phone.

Lastly, not sure if this is true but the cart sales guy said Yahama can void your warranty if excessive speed is detected. Apparently there is a computer on board. It knows how fast you have been driving and for how many hours. Wow, someone is always watching these days !!
