OP, reboot the computer, do a complete shutdown and restart, allow any updates to complete. I just did exactly what you tried and as soon as I typed "f" the first item in the list was facebook. If this does not work, try another search engine, Bing, friefox, etc, just to see if you can get to facebook. As I recall, you can only save shortcuts to the desktop using IE. Go back to IE, and try again, if you still cannot get to facebook by google, go the the address line in IE, and enter "https://www.facebook.com/" this should get you directly to the facebook site.Then sign in and create your new shortcut.
