I had granite counter tops done by Ultimate Granite (Rolling Acres Rd) back in May. They were VERY easy to work with (Adam was our contact). No matter how many times I called, or how many questions I asked, I always got an appropriate and timely response. If no one was able to answer the phone I ALWAYS got a call back in a very short time. They never pushed me to buy. They have a fairly large selection of granite but not 10,000 different ones (maybe they have 10,000 pieces but that seems like a stretch). They did a quality job on the time schedule we agreed to.
I did not use the "contractor grade" faucets they had available choosing instead to get Kohler faucets from Lowes. I did use their kitchen sink which, so far, seems fine. I used their square bathroom sinks which are okay, but if I had it to do over again I'd get the Kohler sinks from Home Depot. No problem with them but the Ultimate Granite sinks have a steeper side and take a bit longer to fill. I think the curved side Kohlers look better anyway.
I didn't shop around since several friends had used them and were very pleased. However, pricing was very good and comparable to what I recently paid in WI after doing extensive price shopping there. What surprized me was doing granite with Ultimate was 1/2 the cost compared with a quote I received from Doc's Restoration for laminate tops.
I did not do the typical 4" back splash in the kitchen choosing instead to do tile. This is something you have to contract for on your own. It is a matter of personal preference but it is becoming more popular now and mine looks great.
