As far as travelling right now, if you have optionality of not taking the trip in a plane, cruise ship, I would exercise the option to not go on the trip until the situation is more clear and more under control, vaccines and transmission understood and mostly removed.
The most difficult decision will be to have or cancel family gatherings with lots of travel involved, as the decision is counter traditional but increases risk.
