Don’t forget that if you are a Florida Resident you can claim Homestead which will cut your actual taxes considerably, you have to own your home as of January 1st of the year you are applying for, there are many different things that you have to prove to be able to do this, we live in Marion County over 65 and our yearly tax bill which would be $3500.00 is $1700.00, do not know about Lake or Sumter differences, but I think this is a Florida issue, since when we lived in Palm Beach County we were homesteading there too...welcome to Paradise, make the plunge, you won't regret it!!!!!!!!!!
