GE is a large canister its mounted on the wall, CPM installed ours with a bypass valve--it filters taste & sediment--that is all any filter system should do--filters do not soften water--we installed an electronic descaler, stops scale on faucets--flushed our hot water heater for the first time in 91/2 years--no sediment
