Thank you, somewhat. My mathematical brain screamed in pain from that illogical math, but even yours is wrong. You have to take a weighted average. You have to multiply the percent who die by the percent each age group represents in the total population, sum them, and then divide by 100%.
Suppose only 100 people were over 60 and there were 7 billion under 60 and none of them die. The fraction of the population who die would be a tiny fraction of a percent. So, even 8% is wrong.
