This is a long shot. If your modem/router is on the desktop, right next to the monitor, then move it more than a foot away. Worked for me for Century Link DSL. In a similar way, I had a wireless indoor/outdoor thermometer that would not keep the signal when it was next to the living room TV, but worked fine elsewhere.
