I've had Century Link internet since July 2011, and it's fiber optic since the beginning. I have no modem, I plug either my router or computer into the wall jack at the end of the kitchen bar. I've had one outage in nine years, never a slowdown of any kind. When I had the outage I called CL and a tech was here within 2 hours and said lightning had struck near the garage and knocked out the backup battery. He removed the B/U battery and all was well ever since. He said those batteries are more trouble than they are worth and they quit installing them.

I have the high speed rate and mine tests at 80mphs all the time. It's $49 for life and I don't have to give them my credit card. Some people have given them their CC and that knocks it down to about $40 if you sign up during the promotion. I'm just north of 466A, a new area in 2011.
