Gift cards to specific stores IMHO have been a huge frustration to us. They either expire without our realizing it, or they are easily lost. The stores will not honor expired gift cards. If you dont run out and use it immediately most likely you will run into the expiration problem.
We have also lost them or forgetten that we have them and by the time we remember its too late. I know they seem like an easy and thoughtful gift to give but I have sworn off gift cards forever, I dont give them ,and I dont want to receive them.
We have found that gift cards such as American Express can be a better alternative then store specific cards.
