The convention for naming outbreaks is to name them after the place they started. Zika, West Nile, Lyme, and Ebola are all places. The World Health Organization changed the name Wuhan to Covid-19 after pressure from China and the media has helped them spread the name. Scientists know the outbreak started in China because there are forensic analyses that show its travel over time. For example, scientists have determined that syphillis started in native North American tribes and then traveled to Europe - not the other way around (The Columbian hypothesis).
Who are we respecting if we call it Covid? The people who poisoned us?
