No, the power doesn’t go out very often..... and when it does , it’s fairly short term.....
Personally, I think that a whole house generator is a waste of money...... and unlike your belief that they are “noisy” , they are actually pretty quiet due to the way they are constructed and insulated.....some of the “portable “ generators are VERY loud....
When we moved here permanently in 2010, I brought our Honda portable generator with us when we moved..... during the past 10 yrs., I have not used it once !!!
