If hoarding is being prepared, then oh well. After this is over, I will be better "prepared" in the future. This is not as simple as a hurricane blowing over in two days. They are predicting a worse scenario pandemic this winter, so I WILL stock up on necessities and I will not care if those two other little pigs or the grasshopper are not prepared. We have had a wake up call, so we can either be worried about what strangers call us, OR we can take care of our family and selves. When I shop, I take one or two items that I will need, not as many as I can cart away. But, I shop at different markets to gather the items I need to "hoard" or to be "prepared." If you don't prepare, then shame on you. Do not presume to belittle those that stockpile supplies for a hard winter.
Yes, hospitals do need masks. We can make our own, until the paper ones are manufactured and up to the demand. You can make a cloth one that is just as good as the '95's by inserting a piece of non-woven material in them to add to the filtering. The paper masks that the hospitals use are just that, non-woven material.
It's not up to the government to make your life comfortable. If you do not prep, then you have no right to ridicule those that do. I prep and I share with my neighbors that can't fend for themselves. Instead of complaining that someone else made it to the meat counter before you, or one that snatched the last pack of toilet paper, take some time off from playing golf or hiding in your home and start your day early and be at the store when it opens. Wear your mask and gloves and carry the wet wipe with you that they offer at the door so that you can wipe things off when you pick them up to set in your cart. If you do not survive this, it's likely because you are not willing to prepare yourself or willing to be cautious.
And quit complaining about everyone else. Our parents had it worse than us and theirs had it worse before them. You have guidelines on how to prevent the illness from getting you, so if you catch it, it is likely your own fault.
As the fictitious Vulcans like to say in salutation, "Live long and prosper." And like the Boy Scouts of America like to say "BE prepared."
