Be sure to properly handle the old stock that is being removed by covering the roots immediately.

When our landscaping was being done they planned to take the old stock to the dump, and they left the roots on the removed stock exposed, severely damaging some. That evening I covered them with dirt and used most as foundation plants on the side and back of the house. About 70% survived.
