Your dislike for the sitting president is quite evident. However, the need to take parting shots at random with no substance or basis is strange.
What you apparently don't see is the amount of work involved in transitioning administrations. While the national business du jour continues, the continuous briefing of the next guard, and preparing for potential problems that can occur the day before, the day of, and the day after the handover is immense. If the only time anyone thinks a president is doing something is when he's mugging for a camera, then there is little knowledge of what really goes on inside an administration.
If "hiding" is taking responsibility for all of the preparatory efforts for transition while doing everything possible to insure what happened when the UK had it's changeover doesn't happen here or is mitigated to the best efforts possible, then Pres. Bush and his staff are "hiding" very well.
And as far as the military goes, they are indeed doing their jobs very well. But don't forget the federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, intelligence agencies and homeland security offices working in partnership on counterterrorism. Their work goes unnoticed by the public at large, but their productivity has been made much more effective by the actions, policies, resources and dedication to fusion-of-efforts by this administration.
Pres. Bush and his cabinet are not perfect - no administration has ever been. However, a lot of that dislike has been nurtured by a liberal media determined to accent the negative and disregard the positive - and there have been positives.
When Mr. Obama's administration takes over, there will be a 6-month press honeymoon during which time whatever errors he and his staff make will be written off as the result of not knowing "how bad" things were. However, if the Obama administration does not kiss the media's collective rumps and give them unfettered access to everything, to include credit for being the intellectual spirit guide for the administration, then the camera will be focused in a different manner to show all of his faults and shortcomings. That's just the way of things....
