At the beginning of this, yes, I would have said and did say such an attitude as yours could get us all killed! However, much has happened since, not the least of which is the observation that Covid-19 is not the scourge we all thought, including the experts, it was! Knowledge is power! To further muddy the waters the WHO who once backed China’s propaganda now says the Swedish approach, social distancing when possible, but keeping the economy fully open has their endorsement ! We’re we all hoodwinked? Was this a way for China w the help of the WHO to effectively destroy the economies of other countries because their own suffered? Leveling the playing field , so to speak? Regardless I have changed my tune in that we need to open things back up and I think being overly cautious is not necessarily the way to go. Social distancing where possible & masks when not possible to social distance & effective hand washing should be the limit of our restrictions. When all was said & done the numbers for Sweden who kept their economy running were statistically no different than ours & other countries who followed the US. So other than the real fear( at the time) that our healthcare system would be overwhelmed, none of the other fears came to be! What does that tell us? That our practices of social distancing has worked & in all probability will continue to work with us going about our usual & customary lives. It does require that masks & gloves be readily accessible to ALL! It is still a chore to secure these items! At the same time that we are willing to take our own “risks “ it is important that we do not choose to sue over every & any case of contracted Covid ( sorry for lawyers already foaming at the mouth over anticipated litigations) . I have done an almost 180 & my science/disease education & background tells me it’s time to start living again! My only request for those who want to act as if nothing’s happened, it to simply be more respectful of the people around you. Other than that, let’s start living again as a free thinking, socially responsible & life loving people.
