We've had the same regular 40" Samsung on our lanai since July 2012...never had a problem with it. If required, replacing a regular TV a couple times would be cheaper than getting an "outside TV."
I am always considerate of my neighbors. We have no kissing lanai, and the only neighbor next to our lanai is a golf course and starter shack. I'm certain they don't mind us watching nighttime TV on our lanai.
