Why must it be either/or? Is it too much to ask for a neighbor in a nearby lanai not play I Love Lucy at 11pm, or not smoke smelly cigars, or not have a barking dog??
We can always play the “it could be worse” game. Just like I won’t put up wind chimes or a water feature because I don’t want to impose on my neighbors - I would hope they would do the same for me. It's about respect for others.
