I do have osteoarthritis in my back. I want to get an exercise bike. I've always had an upright in the past, but a recumbent is intriguing. I just don't want to buy it and not use it.

My husband has back problems and wasn't sure which to buy...but wanted something to use inside to keep in shape. I bought him one that can be both recumbent or upright, plus it has hand pulls to keep his arms in shape. It wasn't all that expensive and he seems to like it and uses it several times a week. Says he uses the recumbent more but likes having the option to switch back and forth.
