Coffee bean, you are right. In most cases the mask is to protect others, a respectful, kind and even noble gesture for the health and well-being of others who may be at risk. Sadly, those who don't understand this simple concept are either really too dumb to get it, but I think in most cases they just don't Want to get it.
Like you, I'll wear my mask to the store, make sure the fruits and veggies I choose are in good shape and clean them at home.
