I can drive myself crazy when it comes to choosing paint. I have used the Sherwin-Williams consulting service, but I did not use the recommendations. White woodwork seems to allow deeper colors.)
What helps me the most is springing for those little sample cans that are mixed to whatever colors you think you might like. Then I paint good-sized pieces paper or poster board and hang them around so I can look at them for a while, at different times of day, in different lighting. S-W has kits for this.
I smiled when I saw your question. After weeks of being at home, I am starting to feel hostility toward my couch. I am afraid I am slipping mentally into an entire redecorating project.
