I thank God that we have not fallen into the trap of socialist government controlled medicine. Look at what's happening with the public/private partnership to find treatments and a vaccine. The administration has removed all the barriers that had been in place and allowed for free market innovation. There are literally dozens of potential vaccines and treatments currently under development or in test. Not a single country with "national" medicine can claim that.
