The only problem with your theory is the genetic tracing of the virus by micro biologists and epidemiologists which shows the majority of US infections came from New York.

Southeast 87%
Midwest 78%
West 78%

The only region infected more by virus direct from China was the Northwest, Washington and Oregon, but they still got 43% of infections from New York.

The majority of coronavirus in New York came from Europe, not direct from China. From New York it spread all over the US
