Uninsured motorist coverage is not health insurance. It kicks in if you are hit by an uninsured driver. We were hit by an uninsured driver, our insurance paid the repair of our car, the hospital bills and another $250,000 for pain and suffering. If we didn't have uninsured driver coverage we would have had to pay for it all ourselves, the guy was a renter, owned nothing and had no savings. It's cheap enough and believe me if you need it, you'll be happy you have it. Florida has one of the highest uninsured motorists rate of drivers in the country.
