Sumter County operates a solid waste/recycling center where you can take your recyclables for free. Their web site (
Solid Waste | Sumter County, FL - Official Website) lists some of the items they take but the containers list more, like glass, newspapers, corrugated cardboard and aerosol cans. There never has been recycling pickup south of 44 and this is the only option available for us. The address is 819 Co Rd 529, Bushnell, FL 33513; south on 301 to the Sunoco gas station in Sumterville. Right at the light onto 470. The entrance to the recycling center is at the beginning of the sweeping right-hand curve about two miles west. Tell the attendant that you are dropping off recycling. The large green container is on the right just after entering the fenced area.
