You are right. As J&J proved with the Tylenol incident getting the news out as fast as possible and as complete as possible is the only effective way to deal with a problem that is also a potential PR disaster. PE Obama seems to be taking the route of hunker down and lawyer up. That's just plain dumb.
As for 'poor, picked upon' Rahm Emanuel - he chose to go make his life public when he first ran for office and then took the very high profile job of COS. While I believe press tactics are, on the whole, abominable, I feel much more compassion for Greg and Cindy Anthony.
