Yes, Samsung has had a bit of history with surprising failures. I had a DLP set go bad with a system board failure. I would have replaced it myself except for the major surgery involved. Replaced the set. I also had one of their LCD models that experienced near 100% failure rate from blown caps on the power board. Samsung replaced the caps (really) on the power board. That same set also experienced a system board failure that I replaced myself. Three other Samsung sets have been OK, so far.
