It is unlikely that you can tie the drain into an existing drain because every drain needs to have a trap. The trap for the existing shower is probably located directly under the drain opening and below the concrete floor. The trap for the toilet is built into the toilet itself. The contractor will probably need to cut a trench into the concrete floor and install a new drain pipe and trap and tie it into the existing main drain under the floor. it would involve some concrete tear out work in your bathroom. Very messy. It would be easier if you wanted to install a shower inside an existing tub. Then, you could attach a vertical pipe to the tub faucet for the new shower and the water would just drain into the tub.
