A mass attitude of "Ruling with emotions" is what jumps out at me when I see the irrational demands and violence. Thanks for putting a label on it.
Consider the other side of that: Intelligence, deliberation, responsibility (to oneself and their community), logic, education, stable families.
All those things are ignored in raising kids in our "underserved" communities. Fixing things from the inside is taboo. Even addressing the subject is politically incorrect. Outside factors are always blamed: bad cops, discrimination, insufficient hand outs, not enough free housing.
Elected officials don't have the courage to take on the difficult root causes and the cycle continues. I grieve for our country.
I hope that the silver lining of the canonization of St. George will ultimately shine some light on the root causes and why the affected communities refuse to address them.
