For offices where both candidates are well known a sign will have little effect. However for the down line offices: county commissioner, Judges, precincts, Board of Education, etc. these signs will just put the name in the mind of the voter. Many will not know either candidate. I go online to look at a sample ballot before I go to vote. Many times I have never seen the name on the ballot before so I do a little online research about anyone I’m not sure about. I think political advertising is unnecessary now. We would probably get many more people who would vie for office if not for the fundraising burden. Maybe we would have a better pool of candidates if we would eliminate all of it.
